After searching through mountains of documents at the departmental archives of Valence between 2011 and 2013, we finally found this marriage contract binding Pierre Revol and Magdeleine Carrier, dated 7th April 1768. Both come from a long line of earthenware makers. It was this alliance of expertise and capital that gave rise to the first Revol workshop.
