In 2014, as Revol celebrates its 225th birthday, Olivier Passot ponders on the company’s roots. Although it’s always been thought that Revol was founded in 1789 and anniversaries have been celebrated accordingly, there is some doubt about the accuracy of this date. So Claude Lagrange and Claude Franco set to work tackling a mountain of archives; meanwhile, the collections of ancient pieces are inventoried. Revol’s Service Patrimoine (heritage service) has, to date, counted 22,000 ceramic pieces and moulds, 4 linear kilometres of archives, and more than 1,000 pieces of graphic art.
